The researchers at Keen Software House will give a presentation on their general artificial intelligence project. They will discuss their methodology, long-term goals, and introduce the tools they are using, which also includes the in-house development environment. Preliminary results will be presented, as well as current and future topics that are being researched and investigated. After this initial summary there will be enough time for questions and a general discussion.
 
The goal of their AI R&D project is to build a general intelligence: an artificial brain that can perceive, learn, and adapt to the environment in the same way as humans do. The design is “partially” inspired by neocortex (sensory perception, motor commands, learning, hierarchical spatial and temporal memory and reasoning, autonomous decisions, goal selection, motivations, etc.), but “mostly” implemented through non-biological approaches (recurrent neural networks, holographic reduced representations, HTM, sparse distributed representation, deep learning, self-organizing maps, growing neural gas, computer vision, Hopfield networks, SVD, Kalman filters, reservoir computing, spiking neural networks, etc.) simulated on CUDA.
 

Short CV:

Marek Rosa founded an independent game development studio Keen Software House in 2010.The first big success came in 2013 with the publishing of Space Engineers game. More than a million copies were sold and this commercial success allowed Marek Rosa to pursue his dream: the development of general artificial intelligence. The project started at the beginning of 2014 and involves an independent team of twelve researchers and programmers.
 
Ing. Dušan Fedorčák Ph.D. is a researcher at Keen Software House with specialization in general AI development. Since receiving his degree at VŠB-TU Ostrava, Department of Computer Science, he has been examining artificial neural networks, more specifically, he was interested in competitive networks and their extensions. During his studies, he participated on several research projects including traffic modeling and disaster detection. He is also interested in computer graphics, scientific visualizations, cognitive neuroscience and software design.
 
Mgr. Martin Bálek is a researcher at Keen Software House with specialization in general AI development. He received his degree in mathematics at Faculty of Mathematics and Physics of Charles University in Prague. He then worked at Institute of Theoretical Computer Science where he studied combinatorics, graph theory and mathematical aesthetics. He also collaborated in the creation of mathematical theories for modelling biological cells and mental processes.
