Annotation:

The lecture will focus on virtualization, its history and state-of-the-art, will describe the virtualization methods and application areas and will attempt to provide an overall assessment of its greatest contributions. It will be concluded with a discussion on the relation between the Cloud and virtualization. The lecture will contain real examples of virtualization of all layers of the computer infrastructure as implemented in Česka pojistovna.

 

Short CV:

Petr Štengl received his Master degree in Software Engineering from CTU in Prague, Faculty of Electrical Engineering. He started his professional carrier as an IT architect of custom solutions in the Czech Telecom, where he later became a  supervisor and team leader of ICT architects. In 2009 he became an IT manager in Ceska pojistovna responsible for transformation and consolidation of the IT infrastructure. In January 2012, he became the COO responsible for transformation of the application portfolio, IT infrastructure efficiency improving,  and cost optimization.
