Stays abroad

Travels abroad, short-term stays, scholarships, training, study stays, sabbaticals, etc. are an important part of the working lives of university staff. These mobilities are mostly intended for academic and research workers, but they play an important role also in the lives of technical and administrative staff. In addition to acquiring new experience and learning about how universities abroad operate, mobility is a way for employees to enhance their skills and personal growth. More generally, mobility creates prerequisites for a true internationalization of the university.

Possibilities for stays

The basic prerequisite for staff mobility is the acquisition and allocation of the necessary financial resources. From this perspective, mobilities can be divided into the following categories:

  • Mobilities covered from the budget of the department, or from budgets for awarded grants and projects: in this respect, the decision is taken by the head of the department (or the person responsible for leading the project or grant)

  • Erasmus+ program mobilities (in Czech only): all employees at CTU can apply for these mobilities through selection procedures. More information is available on the CTU intranet, section “Mobilita zaměstnanců” (Staff mobility, in Czech only)

  • Mobilities covered from specific sources: e.g., mobility projects (national and international), national and international agencies, funds, foundations, etc. (see, for instance, the Czech National Agency for International Education and Research)
