The CTU Open Contest 2025, an annual programming competition organized by the Czech Technical University in Prague (CTU), welcomed hundreds of talented programmers from the Czech Republic and Slovakia in early November. CTU was represented by 32 teams this year, with more than 30 students coming from the CTU Faculty of Information Technology (FIT CTU). This year’s edition took place simultaneously on 7–8 November 2025 at seven locations – Prague, Brno, Ostrava, Banská Bystrica, Bratislava, Žilina and Košice.
The CTU Open Contest serves as a subregional round of the International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) and is the entry point for advancing to the Central European Regional Contest (CERC 2025), which will be held on 5–7 December 2025 in Wroclaw. Successful teams can then continue to the ICPC Europe Championship in Warsaw and further to the ICPC World Finals 2026.
Three top CTU teams made it to the top of the university’s internal ranking, all with a majority representation from FIT CTU. Once again, the Faculty of Information Technology has confirmed its position as one of the most active faculties in competitive programming. This trio of teams will represent CTU at CERC 2025 in Wroclaw, where they will face elite teams from across Central Europe.
The best-ranked CTU team was Dejvice, dej více!, composed entirely of FIT CTU students: Jakub Švec, Oleksandr Slyvka and Vojtěch Brož. The second CTU team consisted solely of individual competitor Illia Kryvoviaz (FEE CTU), and the third team was formed by Bc. Kryštof Rohan and Bc. Pavel Holý (both from FIT CTU) together with Tomáš Prager (Faculty of Transportation Sciences).
“Participating in the CTU Open Contest was a great opportunity for us to practice our algorithmic and programming skills, meet a community of people who enjoy similar things, and learn something new. We are looking forward to the spectacular atmosphere of CERC, where we will meet the best teams from Central Europe,” say members of the team Dejvice, dej více!.
FIT CTU and FEE CTU traditionally take part in organizing the contest. The tasks are prepared primarily by current and former FIT CTU students who have long been dedicated to creating and testing the problems, with significant support from other experts from both faculties.
