Stanislav Hanzl Award Goes to a Student of FIT CTU

A student of the Faculty of Information Technology at the Czech Technical University in Prague (FIT CTU) has received the Stanislav Hanzl Award, which is granted to CTU students for outstanding academic results and significant scientific or professional activity. Ing. Martin Rameš was recognized in particular for his publication record at prestigious international conferences, namely AAAI 2025 and ECAI 2024.

In addition to his research work, Martin Rameš has long been involved in the operation of the RoboAgeLab at FIT CTU, takes part in FIT CTU promotional activities, and assists with teaching courses focused on artificial intelligence. A significant part of his activities also includes participation in SGS projects (Student Grant Competition), within which he contributes as a member of the research team to achieving concrete research outcomes.

From mid-January 2026, he will undertake a five-month Fulbright research stay in Pittsburgh, where he will collaborate with Prof. Howie Choset and his team at Carnegie Mellon University. Their research focuses on multi-agent collective construction, that is, the design of algorithms for groups of simple robots, each capable of manipulating a single building element. The goal is to achieve fully autonomous construction of predefined structures, such as the walls of a single-storey house.

“Receiving the Award represents a great honor and a responsibility for me. The award is intended for students with outstanding academic results and significant scientific or professional activity, and I therefore see it as recognition of my work to date. At the same time, it motivates me to continue my research, to further develop professionally, and to actively contribute to the academic community at FIT CTU and beyond,” says Ing. Martin Rameš.

The Stanislav Hanzl Award is granted by the Stanislav Hanzl CTU Endowment Fund, which was established in 1997 in honor of Prof. Ing. Stanislav Hanzl, CSc., the first rector of CTU after November 1989. The mission of the Endowment Fund is to support studies and students at CTU in Prague, particularly in the areas of modernizing education, internationalization of studies, and increasing student mobility in the European context. The award is accompanied by a one-time scholarship of CZK 25,000 and the ceremonial presentation of a certificate on the occasion of the anniversary of November 17.
