Researchers from the GGOAT Research Group and the Algorithms Laboratory at the Faculty of Information Technology, Czech Technical University in Prague (FIT CTU), have achieved another international success. Their scientific paper has been accepted into the main technical program of the 36th International Conference on Automated Planning and Scheduling (ICAPS). ICAPS holds the highest possible academic ranking, A*, placing it among the world’s most prestigious conferences in the field.
The paper, entitled “Optimal Path Planning in Hostile Environments,” stood out in an exceptionally competitive selection process. Out of 397 submitted papers, only 90 were accepted for presentation following a rigorous peer-review process.
The research addresses the problem of optimal path planning in hostile or otherwise hazardous environments. The paper was co-authored by Andrzej Kaczmarczyk, Ph.D. (FIT CTU), Šimon Schierreich, Ph.D. (FIT CTU), Nicholas Axel Tanujaya (Bina Nusantara University), and Haifeng Xu (University of Chicago).
“We were delighted to present our work at such a prestigious event. Our research was very well received by both theoreticians and industry experts, many of whom expressed interest in further developing our model,” the authors said.
An interesting and unconventional addition to the publication is an interactive web-based game inspired directly by the research and the paper itself. It allows users to explore the proposed algorithms and the underlying concepts through hands-on experimentation.
ICAPS is the leading international forum for research in automated planning and scheduling. The annual conference series was established in 2003 through the merger of two earlier conferences: AIPS (Artificial Intelligence Planning and Scheduling) and ECP (European Conference on Planning). This year’s conference took place in Dublin, Ireland, from June 27 to July 2.
