The 14th edition of the Prague Embedded Systems Workshop (PESW), an international event focused on embedded systems research, took place from 25 to 27 June 2026. The workshop is held annually by the Department of Digital Design at the Czech Technical University in Prague’s Faculty of Information Technology (FIT CTU). Its aim is to bring together PhD students, researchers and experts from academia and industry working on the design, testing, security and applications of embedded systems. This year’s workshop attracted 46 registered active participants from universities and companies in the Czech Republic and abroad.
The technical programme featured student presentations of the latest research results, as well as discussions on current topics in reliable and secure embedded systems, system-on-chip design, artificial intelligence, machine learning, cyber-physical systems and post-quantum cryptography. The workshop also included peer-reviewed papers published in an ISBN-registered proceedings volume and a student poster session featuring a competition for the best bachelor’s and master’s theses.
Two invited talks by international experts were among the highlights of the programme. Marco Ottavi from the University of Rome Tor Vergata and the University of Twente presented the challenges of integrating quality, reliability and security in modern computing systems. Chandan Kumar Jha from the University of Bremen focused on automated design methods for digital systems using Resistive RAM for Computing-in-Memory applications.
The workshop was also complemented by talks from industry representatives, offering insights into current developments in embedded systems in practice. Topics included the development of radiation-hardened detector systems, integrated circuit design, optimisation of neural network inference on edge devices, the development of embedded products from initial design through mass production, and coordinated vulnerability disclosure in hardware.

An integral part of PESW was also the traditional student poster competition, organised by the IEEE Student Branch CTU in cooperation with IEEE Young Professionals. Students presented their recently defended bachelor’s and master’s theses in the field of embedded systems, with the best posters receiving valuable prizes from IEEE and the workshop’s partners.
