FIT CTU Co-Organized the 41st European Workshop on Computational Geometry

In 2025, the 41st edition of the European Workshop on Computational Geometry (EuroCG) was held for the first time in the Czech Republic, co-organized by the Faculty of Information Technology of the Czech Technical University in Prague (FIT CTU). EuroCG is the longest-running conference in the field of computational geometry, combining a strong scientific tradition with a friendly and informal atmosphere.

The conference was attended by 128 participants from 16 countries and featured three keynote lectures by renowned researchers, each focusing on a different area of computational geometry. Oswin Aichholzer (Graz University of Technology) spoke about combinatorial geometry in the plane. Eva Rotenberg (Technical University of Denmark) presented work in algorithmic geometry. Finally, Uli Wagner (Institute of Science and Technology Austria) gave a talk on combinatorial geometry in higher dimensions. In addition to these, 80 contributed talks were selected from a total of 88 submissions.

Of the 80 contributed talks, 49 were presented by students. The conference awarded a Best Student Presentation Prize, which was voted on by the EuroCG 2025 attendees to recognize young researchers for their clarity and elegance in presenting their work. The winner was Johanna Ockenfels for her presentation of the paper “Chasing Puppies on Orthogonal Straight-Line Plane Graphs”.

“The conference was a great experience for the participants. The three invited talks were excellent and covered a variety of topics within the field. Some of the contributed talks also presented cutting-edge results and were given by prominent figures in the area. The students present, thus, could benefit from a high scientific level and many opportunities for networking. Finally, the beautiful conference venue created a very pleasant atmosphere and offered many chances for social interaction,” said Maria Saumell, co-organizer of EuroCG 2025.
