Board of the Doctoral Study Program

The Board of the Doctoral Study Program is the primary professional control and evaluation body for doctoral studies. It reports to the FIT Scientific Council. The Board has at least five members, of which at least two are not employees of CTU. Professors, associate professors and other leading experts can become members of the Board. The members of the Board are appointed and removed by the dean, following an approval by the Scientific Council based on a proposal by departments that take on doctoral students.

The Board’s main competences include:

  • Control and evaluation of the ongoing studies in the doctoral study program
  • Taking care of updating and development of the doctoral study program and its study fields
  • Prior to accepting an applicant to study, approving proposed general topics or areas of topics of dissertation theses and supervisors for these topics based on proposals by heads of departments that take on doctoral students.
  • Approving individual study plans and changes thereof
  • Proposing composition of committees for entrance examinations, composition of committees for state doctoral examinations and committees for defence of dissertation theses
  • Approving reviewers of dissertation theses

Meetings of the Board

Meetings of the Board take place as needed, at least once a year. The meetings are presided over by the Chairperson of the Board. Minutes of the meetings are taken and are then sent to the members of the Board and to the dean.
