Doctoral study program in Informatics

A program that pushes the boundaries of Informatics

The doctoral study program in Informatics is focused on the development of doctoral students’ creative skills in the whole range of pure and engineering informatics. Graduates will be equipped with the appropriate mix of knowledge across IT fields of study (e.g. HW and SW co-design, systems-on-chip design, joint verification of HW and SW designs using effectively adapted or newly created models, modelling of distributed ICT systems).

Enrolment and examinations dates and other important dates that PhD students should be aware of are summarized in the academic calendar. The studies are regulated by the FIT Regulations for doctoral studies.

Topics of dissertation theses

Topics of dissertation theses cover theoretical informatics, conceptual designs of large HW and VLSI systems with special properties. They can also concern computer security, design of complex multiprocessor and distributed ICT systems and efficient computer representation of knowledge. Dissertation theses can also be from the field of web and knowledge engineering, creation of new computational models and paradigms (e.g. quantum computers, modelling of large computer systems and their networks, creation of SW methodologies and advanced SW engineering techniques).
