For the 15th year now, the prestigious IT SPY (IT Student Project of the Year) competition has been selecting exceptional master’s theses in informatics, giving talented IT graduates a chance to shine, often for the first time. Every year, 20 Czech and Slovak universities participate in the competition, and up to 1,500 defended papers are submitted. Contact the Faculty Ambassador, prof. Jan Holub until 6 June 2024. If you win, you will receive not only professional fame but also € 2,000 for the development of your project
The course of the competition
Faculty preliminary round
If you are interested in participating in the competition, don't hesitate to contact the competition ambassador at CTU FIT, Prof. Jan Holub, by 6 June (before the start of the thesis defenses). After the defenses, the ambassador can nominate a maximum of 10 theses for the faculty, and the number of nominated theses cannot exceed 10% of all graduates. The Ambassador shall take into account the recommendations of the thesis defense committees when assessing the theses.
Meziuniverzitní kolo
Papers nominated by the faculty are entered into the competition. To successfully enter the competition, you must log into the EasyChair competition system and upload the thesis (in PDF format) and a one-page information leaflet (in PDF format) introducing the thesis. These theses will be displayed in the Best of the Best Gallery and will receive a certificate of participation in the competition. Making it to the "top ten" of all IT theses from all over the Czech Republic and Slovakia is a great achievement that will enrich your CV.
Semi-final round
One of the works nominated by the faculty is nominated to advance to the competition's semifinals. This is done offline by judging the entries and posters by the competition judges. Some of the entries will then proceed to the final round. The works that end up in the semi-final round will be displayed in the Best of Gallery in the semi-finalists section and will also receive a certificate to that effect.
Final round
The final round takes place in the form of presentations in front of the competition judges. The first few places will then receive valuable prizes. The actual award ceremony is presented in the media.
