About the competition
The Werner von Siemens Award is open to engineering, natural science and medicine students and young scientists. The competition is organized by the Czech Siemens together with prominent representatives of universities and the Czech Academy of Sciences. The awards are now under the auspices of Petr Fiala, Prime Minister, and Helena Langšádlová, Minister for Science, Research and Innovation, as well as the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports and the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
In terms of its scope, the amount of financial rewards and history, the award is one of the most important independent initiatives of this kind in the Czech Republic. In the previous twenty-five years, 450 students, teachers and scientists have been awarded, and over CZK 15.3 million has been paid out in prizes.
