Experts from Across Europe Gathered at FIT CTU to Discuss the Development of the Data Stewardship Wizard

The Faculty of Information Technology at the Czech Technical University in Prague (FIT CTU) hosted the international DSW Power-User Meeting 2025 from June 11 to 13. The event brought together 20 experts from 13 institutions and 8 European countries who actively use and develop the Data Stewardship Wizard (DSW) – an open-source platform for creating research data management plans.

Over the course of three days, participants from Sweden, Norway, the United Kingdom, France, Switzerland, Spain, and the Czech Republic shared their experiences with using DSW, presented real-life case studies, and engaged in technical discussions focused on tool customization and integration with other research infrastructure systems. The main goal was to strengthen collaboration among users and plan the platform’s future development.

“It was truly a pleasure to host such an active group of experts here at FIT CTU in Prague,” said Marek Suchánek, one of the event organizers and a member of the DSW team. “Direct discussions with those who use and operate the tool on a daily basis are extremely valuable for its future direction,” he added.

The meeting resulted in a shared development roadmap for the tool and new community initiatives – including regular online meetings and the creation of a shared knowledge repository. The DSW team at FIT CTU will use these outcomes as a foundation for further development, ensuring that the platform remains user-friendly and internationally applicable in research practice.
