Dean

The dean is the top representative of the faculty. He is appointed and removed by the rector based on a proposal by the Academic Senate. The dean may award the FIT Medal, the faculty’s highest honour, to individuals or other institutions on important occasions. He also awards the best bachelor and master theses each semester with the Dean’s Award.

The current dean is doc. RNDr. Ing. Marcel Jiřina, Ph.D. The role of the dean is defined by Act no. 111/1998 Coll., on Higher Education Institutions and on Amendment to Other Acts, and by the CTU Statute and the FIT Statute.

Dean’s advisory bodies

Permanent advisory bodies of the dean include the FIT management, the dean’s collegium and dean’s gremium. Matters related to the faculty are discussed at their sessions.

  • Members of the FIT management include the dean, the vice-deans, the bursar and the head of the Dean’s Administration. The chair of the FIT Academic Senate is a permanent guest.
  • Members of the dean’s collegium include the dean, the vice-deans, the bursar, the chair of AS FIT, and possibly other employees appointed by the dean, following a discussion by AS FIT.
  • The dean’s gremium is composed of the dean, the vice-deans, the heads of departments, the bursar, the head of the ICT department and the chair of AS FIT, and possibly other employees of FIT, following a discussion by AS FIT.

FIT Deans

2017–2025: doc. Marcel Jiřina

Doc. RNDr. Ing. Marcel Jiřina, Ph.D., has been working at the faculty since 2013. In 2013–2017, he was Vice-Dean for Science and Research and a member of the FIT Scientific Council. Since 2015, he has been a member of the Board of the Doctoral Study Program, and at the same time, he is the guarantor of the Knowledge Engineering master specialization.

2009–2017: prof. Pavel Tvrdík

Prof. Ing. Pavel Tvrdík, CSc., has been working at the faculty since its establishment in 2009. He is currently the head of the Department of Computer Systems and the guarantor of the Computer Systems and Networks master specialization. He is also the head of the Parallel and Distributed Computing research group. In 2009, he contributed to the establishment of FIT.
