The researchers of the Prague Stringology Club deal with processing one-dimensional strings, their efficient storage, and pattern matching. The main research topics are stringology, data compression, and other related fields.
Recently, we have been dealing with compressed data structures, which allow not only efficient storage but also searching. We also work on various problems of bioinformatics, like pattern matching in so-called degenerate strings, which represent a finite set of very similar strings.
