Marcel Jiřina re-elected as head of the faculty

4. 10. 2021

On 1 October, doc. RNDr. Ing. Marcel Jiřina, Ph.D., was appointed Dean of FIT CTU for the term of office 2021–2025. He has been working intensively for four years. He has set fundamental goals for the next four ones, which include continuing to improve the quality of teaching, strengthening science and developing the faculty as a whole.

One of his further work priorities at the faculty is that FIT should continue to be synonymous with top-level education and science in the IT field, which students, employees, and the public will respect.

“I would like the faculty to be a magnet for students and employees, and studying there to be a prestigious affair,“ Marcel Jiřina recalls his vision. “This second term, I would like to move the faculty forward in the direction of scientific results.”

During his tenure as Dean of FIT, the faculty has become one of the leading IT faculties in the Czech Republic. Interest in studying at the faculty increased significantly during his first term of office, and FIT CTU has the highest number of applicants of all CTU faculties. Almost a quarter of all applicants for study at CTU apply to FIT.

New laboratories have also been established at the faculty, which contribute to teaching and scientific research. One of them is, for example, the Ethical Hacking Laboratory, where students can try out how to attack or hack various systems.

What Marcel Jiřina perceives as highly positive and necessary are good interpersonal relationships. He is convinced that people at the faculty have a sense of honest behavior, there is friendly communication and responsibility and pride for a job well done.

Doc. RNDr. Ing. Marcel Jirina, Ph.D., has been the Dean of FIT CTU since 2017.
