Representatives of the House of Lobkowicz and FIT CTU signed a Memorandum of Cooperation on Monday, 20 November 2023, at the Lobkowicz Palace at Prague Castle.
The main objective of the cooperation will be projects aimed at digitizing the Lobkowicz collections and making them accessible to the general public. The long-term educational activities of the House of Lobkowicz curatorial team will thus expand through digital education and become more accessible to all interested parties – on a global scale, without the need for a physical presence in the Czech Republic.
This is the first cooperation between the House of Lobkowicz and a public state university with a purely technical orientation.
“We appreciate this cooperation very much also because FIT CTU is an important research organization and is part of one of the largest and oldest universities of its kind in Europe. We know from the experience of our educational programmes that the key to understanding the past is knowing it. The opportunity to touch the past, research it, and put ourselves in its stories is irreplaceable. This is exactly what we want to make accessible for as many people as possible anywhere in the world,” said William Rudolf Lobkowicz about the cooperation.
“The cooperation with the House of Lobkowicz is a welcome challenge for us that will and already does bring several unique opportunities by combining historical legacy with state-of-the-art technology. We are delighted that this cooperation will make it easier for the general public to access historical information in an attractive and innovative form and help them better understand the past. I am very much looking forward to seeing what concrete outcomes the connection will bring, whether in the form of digitization, virtual or augmented reality, historical simulation or online platforms for sharing stories,” mentioned doc. RNDr. Ing. Marcel Jiřina, Ph.D., Dean of FIT CTU.
