Dominik has many passions. He managed to combine two of them and, with the help of his classmates from FIT, came up with something new that will change the face of volleyball as we know it. Dominik decided to merge his passion for volleyball with his passion for IT technology, leading to the creation of a groundbreaking training tool, Training Lights, for volleyball players. This device combines light strips with a mobile app.
Bc. Dominik Stasiowski is from Lanškroun, located at the foothills of the Orlické Mountains, where he graduated from high school. He has been playing competitive volleyball since the age of 10. After finishing high school, he began studying at FIT ČVUT, which he stumbled upon by chance. Originally, like most people who didn’t know what to do, he was aiming to attend an economics school. When it came time to apply for university, he wanted to find a compromise between economics, management, and technology. By searching for the keywords "informatics and management" online, he came across FIT with a specialization in Information Systems and Management. He didn't need to look any further and immediately sent his application.
However, he had never programmed before, so everything at FIT was completely new to him from the start. His high school education and passion for all kinds of technology, however, prepared him perfectly for studying at FIT. He is now confidently continuing his studies in a master’s program with a focus on Managerial Informatics.
"I am immensely grateful for this big accident because now I can't imagine ending up anywhere else. FIT offers an amazing environment, most of the professors are incredibly helpful and dedicated, the subjects are well-structured and meaningful, and the form of study is focused mainly on transferring theory into functional practice. I also found my kindred spirits here, two volleyball friends who have turned into my best friends and now also co-founders of our joint startup."
After a year of dreaming and envisioning starting his own company and creating his own product, the three of them founded the company DSparx Tech s.r.o. and began developing the Training Lights volleyball training tool under its name. It serves as a reflexive, simulation, and orchestration training tool. With it, players can develop their peripheral vision and reflexes.
"Our goal is to expand Training Lights to all volleyball clubs in Europe, not just the top-tier clubs, and if successful, to spread it worldwide. If we succeed, we also want to expand the Training Lights concept into other sports and modernize training methods beyond volleyball," Dominik reveals their plans.
