Although Wanaka, at her home in UAntwerp, studied Business Economics with courses oriented on economics, management, and business, she was always keen on technical courses and always wanted to study them. After completing her bachelor's studies in economics at UAntwerp, she signed up for Master's studies in Computer Science at FIT CTU as part of the new Double degree programme of Digital Business Engineering (DBE) specialization. Wanaka is the first graduate of the Double degree programme at FIT CTU from UAntwerp.
"I appreciated the opportunity to study information technology at FIT CTU in Prague. I have always enjoyed technical courses, and I have always wanted to study them. Applying to study the specialization DBE seemed like a great idea. I like a challenge and was happy to study further in the Double Degree programme. My motivation was to extend my qualifications and become more competitive in the job market."
By simultaneously studying at two prestigious universities, she received two diplomas and two degrees and extended her academic knowledge and future employment opportunities. She has a unique opportunity to expand her interdisciplinary economics and information technology expertise.
"I can see a big advantage in combining my economic, management, and IT knowledge by simultaneously receiving two diplomas and two degrees. Studying DBE has shown me different ways of thinking and taught me to look at a problem from different perspectives. I gained interesting experiences, more confidence, and learned a lot."
During her master's studies, all of the papers she wrote, her projects, and even her thesis were about renewable energy and solar panels. After finishing her master's studies, she started working for an energy monitoring company, and she would like to work there in the future. In Wanaka’s opinion, it's an essential industry; it's moving fast, and a lot is happening and changing and Wanaka wants to be part of it.
