Ing. Justýna Frommová

Graduate

Justýna Frommová decided to study at the Faculty of Information Technology at the Czech Technical University (FIT CTU) while still in high school at the Jana Neruda Gymnasium. She has enjoyed mathematics since childhood and was more drawn to natural sciences and technical fields than to the humanities. Informatics intrigued her not only because of its connection to mathematics but also because she noticed the lack of women in IT and wanted to contribute to increasing their representation.

Currently, Justýna works as a laboratory manager at ImproLab at FIT CTU. She became a member after successfully submitting her bachelor’s thesis, which steered her career towards the field of computer vision.

“I plan to stay in the laboratory. I like the academic environment and the variety of work. At the moment, I am working on a project that is a continuation of my master's thesis. As part of the TAČR TREND program, we secured funding with the company BEACHDATA for automating data collection from beach volleyball matches. It’s a very interesting project for me, especially since it directly connects my sporting and professional life,” says Justýna.

Justýna considers the first year to be the most challenging. However, she gradually found her favorite subjects and realized that even what initially seemed overwhelming could be managed. She extended her studies to have more time for her final thesis and to be able to go on internships abroad in Seoul, South Korea, and Aachen, Germany.

In addition to IT, Justýna also competes in sports at a high level. Since high school, she has been accustomed to a demanding schedule combining school, sports, and minimal free time. She has maintained this routine throughout her studies at FIT and now in her job. Most of her free time is dedicated to sports, whether it's beach volleyball, physical training in the gym, or cycling. Sports also helped her during her demanding studies, such as when preparing for her state exams, where training served as a way to relax and recharge.

“My message to current and future FIT CTU students is to not give up during the first year because with each semester, it will get better and better.”
