Pavel Surynek is a newly appointed professor

On 28 November 2022, the President of the Czech Republic, Miloš Zeman, appointed 76 new university professors based on the proposals of the scientific and artistic boards of universities. Doc. Pavel Surynek was appointed for FIT in the field of Informatics. The awarding of the appointment decrees from the Minister for Education, Youth and Sports, prof. Vladimír Balaš, took place on 19 December 2022 in Karolinum.

The new title was awarded to representatives of engineering, computer science, chemistry, natural sciences or arts, linguists, lawyers or economists.

Prof. doc. RNDr. Pavel Surynek, Ph.D., is an expert in artificial intelligence in robotics and head of the Robotic Agents Laboratory (RoboAgeLab). He graduated from the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics of Charles University. He worked at Kobe University and the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology in Japan. He is an expert who invents new algorithms for warehouse automatization. His research interests include artificial intelligence, especially heuristic search, feasibility, multi-agent systems and robotics problem-solving. He is currently working on research on planning that coordinates the cooperation of many robotic agents. He collaborates on his research with world-leading workplaces such as the University of Southern California or Ben Gurion University in Israel. In 2022, he made it to the finals of the Český Vševěd 2022 competition, where he presented his scientific work in the popularization form. Computerworld magazine chose him in the prestigious selection of TOP IT Personalities for 2022.
