Anotace
This paper deals with the comparison of BPMN and DEMO process modelling tools in the form of Usability study. The authors present the methods used to compare, define the appropriate equipment of the laboratory and propose the CASE study model. The results from the two CASE studies performed are critical and define the conclusion. The result is a recommendation when it is advisable to use BPMN and when DEMO. Another result is the proposed method of verification of process modelling tools.

Business process modeling is undoubtedly one of the most important parts of Applied (Business) Informatics. Quality of business process models (diagrams) is crucial for any purpose in this area. The goal of a process analyst’s work is to create generally understandable, explicit, unambiguous and error-free models. If a process is properly described, created models can be used as an input into deep analysis and optimization. Optimization is mostly focused on a higher efficiency of the process or at least on a better clarification of its meaning and working. Objective: It can be assumed that properly designed business process models (similarly as in the case of correctly written algorithms) contain characteristics that can be mathematically described. If it is possible to find measurable attributes of business process model’s quality, it will be possible to define a different quality maturity levels of business process modeling results. Furthermore, it will be possible creating a tool helping process analysts designing proper models. Method: A systematic literature review was conducted in order to find and analyze business process model’s design and business process model’s quality measuring methods. Results: It was found that mentioned area had already been subject of research investigation in the past. Thirty-three suitable scientific publications and twenty-two quality measures were found. Conclusions: Analyzed articles and existing quality measures do not reflect all important attributes of business process model’s clarity, simplicity and completeness. Therefore it would be appropriate adding new measures of quality.

Anotace
The Business Process Management is considered as a new way of managing the organization. It’s based on the principles managing the organization when the processes have the key role. It is managerial discipline that uses the technologies for the process oriented management. The authors discuss the possibilities to measure quality of process models’ design and give the answer to the questions: how to measure the BPM quality, if it is possible and, if yes, how to do that. The authors use collaborative usability lab and suggest to implement “pair usability testing” principle for BPM quality evaluation.

Anotace
We found fundamental problems with the quality of business process models designed by students during education. Their design very often miss particular quality (from the business point of view). To ensure high quality of the designed process models opportunity should be given in order to use the mathematical expression’s qualitative characteristic of the process model (i.e. quality measures of the process model). To improve their knowledge, we are trying to find metrics for quality process measurement. These metrics must be able to influent the quality of the model. This quality is affected by the experiences and knowledge of the process designer, mainly students. That’s why the process creation is immediately followed by the quality control. The quality control shows if the modelled process models are created according to the expected quality. We develop the software to an educative tool to support a quality of designed process model. This tool serves as a very important educative tool for the teaching of the process modelling and to get feedback from students works. The goal of this paper is to describe how to improve the business process model educative skills, using quality measures of the process model.

Anotace
Popis, dokumentace, vyhodnocování a zlepšování procesů by měla být nezbytnou součástí strategického řízení každé organizace. Díky dynamicky se měnícímu prostředí, musí organizace neustále adaptovat procesy na změny trhu. Aby to však bylo efektivně možné, procesy by měly být popsány a dokumentovány. Např. prostřednictvím procesních modelů, vykazujících vlastnosti kvality (tj. stručnost, jasnost, přesnost a jeho grafická kvalita). Kontrola kvality procesních modelů může být podpořena nástroji založených na matematickém vyjádření jejich kvalitativních charakteristik. Právě takový nástroj se autorský kolektiv snaží navrhnout. Cílem tohoto článku je sumarizovat a popsat aktuální stav výzkumu autorského kolektivu v této oblasti.
